New Delhi, June 7: The city police has arrested late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's aide Harish Sharma and driver Ganesh on charges of destruction of evidence by disturbing the crime scene at Mahajan's official residence in Central Delhi after the drinks and drug party of June 1.

They were, however, granted bail a few hours later today.

It was alleged that the bottle of champagne consumed at the party was removed from the room and put in the fridge while the glasses used were washed. Domestic servants questioned in the case had told police that this was done on Sharma's directions.

Vomit in the room where Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul, Secretary Bibek Moitra and four others partied was also cleaned. It was also alleged that they had tampered with the drugs. The party had claimed the life of Bibek and made Rahul seriously sick.

Police registered a case under various provisions of the Narcotics Act.

With this, the number of people arrested in connection with the case went up to seven.

Yesterday, a city court had remanded Rahul to two-day police custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate A K Chaturvedi remanded Rahul to police custody till June 8 after police sought his custody for further interrogation that would help the investigations and recovery, if any. He would also be confronted with other accused in the case, it said.

On June 5, the court had remanded three Nigerians to police custody for ten days.

Mr Chaturvedi ordered Ebiram Gouchukwo, James Tiabu and Abdullah to police custody till June 14 after police sought their custody for further interrogation that could be crucial to investigations in the case.

On June 4, the court had sent Sahil Zaroo to eight-day police custody till June 12.
