Srinagar, May 2: Chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) Syed Ali Shah Geelani today said the peace process initiated by India will not succeed when security forces "continue to commit Human Rights (HR) violations and youths languish in jails".

''The process will further complicate the situation in the Jammu and Kashmir,'' Mr Geelani said at a news conference here today.

He alleged the process was aimed to deceive the world and people.

Claiming that India was not sincere about finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the Kashmir issue, he said the Indian government has yet to accept that Kashmir was "a disputed territory".

Security forces are enjoying protection under special acts and laws, he alleged and added that hundreds of youths were languishing in different jails in and outside the state for the past 15 years on "fabricated charges".

"We want their unconditional release," he said, adding people should also be allowed to carry on their political activities without any curbs and restrictions.

He said no lasting peace was possible in the sub-continent unless the Kashmir issue was resolved by allowing people of entire Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self determination.
