Advani to touch K'taka again in May
Jabalpur, Apr 26: Senior BJP leader L K Advani's 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra' will re-enter Karnataka in the first week of May for a couple of days.
''The 'yatra' through that southern state had to be earlier cancelled in the wake of matinee idol Rajkumar's demise,'' he told journalists here on the second day of his journey in Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Advani said he was elated over the tumultuous welcome his 'yatra' received in all the states. Even in areas that were not BJP strongholds, the 'yatra' evoked good response notwithstanding the scorching heat, he added.
Asked about the likelihood of firebrand Sadhvi Uma Bharti's possible return to the BJP, the former party chief said, ''BJP president Rajnath Singh has made his stance clear and therefore I will not comment on the matter. Ms Bharti has a right to float her own party.'' On the burning issue of naxalism, he lauded BJP government's efforts in chhattisgarh to contain the menace and suggested that the regime should bring misguided youth back into the mainstream.
''The state government should make proper use of central assistance for police modernisation,'' he added.
Welcoming the revival of parliamentary democracy in Nepal, Mr Advani said if the maoists had any tie-up with the ruling alliance in the Himalayan kingdom then it would be detrimental to India's internal security.
