Indian author shortlisted for best cricket book award
London, Apr 25 (UNI) ''Pundits from Pakistan -- On Tour with India, 2003-04'', Rahul Bhattacharya's much acclaimed account of Team India's historic tour of Pakistan is among the five contenders for the prestigious Cricket Society Book of the Year award to be announced tomorrow.
The twenty-six year old is being tipped as one of the front-runners for the 1,000 pound award sponsored by The Times alongside Stephen Fay whose ''Tom Graveney at Lord's. A Year at the Home of Cricket'' gives insight into the workings of the world's wealthiest, and most respected cricket club -- the MCC.
The other three contenders are, Eric Midwinter's Red Shirts and Roses -- a nostalgic story of the two Old Traffords and the clubs, Lancashire and Manchester United -- ''Charles Palmer: More than just a Gentleman by Douglas Miller''and ''Test of Time: Travels in Search of a Cricketing Legend'' by John Lazenby.
