Modi to present Gujarat's case at NCA on Saturday
Ahmedabad, Apr 14 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to present the State's case at the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) meeting in New Delhi tomorrow to review the situation in the wake of anti-dam activists calling for halting work of Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) dam on the Narmada.
Addressing a function to mark the inauguration of Babasaheb Ambedkar building at Patan, about 150 km from here, Mr Modi said that over Rs 20,000 crore have been spent on the project as lakhs of people living in the drought-prone areas look up for early completion of the project.
He said the height of the dam was raised from 85 to 110 metres in phases, as NCA had allowed it to be raised to 121 metres, but not a single Project Affected Person (PAP) had been left out of Rehabilation and Resettlement (R&R) programme.
The Chief Minister also criticised the Union Government for diverting 200 megawatt of power from the Centre's share meant for Gujarat to Maharashtra, without citing any reason.
