PM, Vivekananda's wax models to be unveiled

Kochi, Apr 12: The wax models of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Swami Vivekananda, the late Carnatic singer M S Subbulakshmi and popular Malayalam actor Mohanlal will be unveiled at the Wax Museum at the 'Baywatch' amusement park near Kanniyakumari on April 14.

Addressing a press conference here today, Sreebhadra Parks and Resorts Managing Director K N Naraynan Namboodiripad said that plans were also afoot to open a 'cricket gallery' in the wax museum, the first such museum in India, modelled along the lines of the famous Madam Tussaud's in London.

To this end, the consent of Team India skipper Rahul Dravid and Kerala medium pacer Sreeshanth had been obtained and their wax models would be ready by the end of June this year. Cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar had also been approached, he added.

Mr Namboodiripad said that towards the end of this year, the wax models of President A P J Abdul Kalam, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, tennis sensation Sania Mirza and film actors Kamal Hasan and Chiranjeevi, would also be installed at the museum, which presently has the wax models of seven eminent personalities.

These are Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, renowned singer J Yesudas, Mata Amrithanandamayi, superstar Rajnikant, actor Madhu and former Kerala Chief Ministers K Karunakaran and E K Nayanar.

The wax museum was opened to the public in December, last year.

As part of other tourist attractions at the 'Baywatch' amusement park, a 'coral museum' and a 'butterfly park' would be added this year, he said.
