New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) Two of the 22 seriously injured in yesterday's fire in Meerut, and brought to the Safdarjung Hospital here, have died even as the condition of 17 others remains critical.

Gita, said to be in her 30s, died at about 1130 hrs, according to hospital sources.

''One of the 22 admitted to the hospital here, Y P Singh (55), died last evening itself.'' Most of those admitted are critical except for three who have less than 40 per cent burn injuries. Of those admitted yesterday two were children and ten women, he said.

''The rest have burn injuries which were above 50 per cent.'' Asked about their condition, the doctor said as most of them have respiratory burn injuries they have to be kept under 72-hour observation before anything could be said.

''Until those crucial 72 hours pass no conclusion could be made.'' Whatever changes take place in their condition during this period will decide the future course of treatment, he added.

More than 60 people were killed and 119 injured in the devastating fire which took place, reportedly due to a short circuit, at a trade fair in Meerut yesterday.
