Thai hostages freed in Nigeria, to return home today

Bangkok, Mar 3 (UNI) Two Thai nationals, held hostage for 13 days along with four other foreign oil workers in Nigeria have been released and are due to return to Thailand today.

Thailand's caretaker Foreign Affairs Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon conveyed this information yesterday to the families of the two men in the presence of Nigerian Ambassador to Thailand T Olufunso Olumoko.

Arak Suwanna and Somsak Mhadmho were abducted on February 18 along with other foreign oil workers by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.

''The release is due to the efforts of several parties including close coordination between Thailand's Foreign Ministry and the Nigerian government,'' the foreign minister said.
