Bush has packed schedule during India visit

New Delhi, Mar 1: The United States (US) President George W Bush, who will be arriving in New Delhi tonight (Mar 1, 2006) will have a busy schedule during his three-day visit to India.

According to his itinerary, Mr Bush, accompanied by his wife, Laura, and a high-level delegation, is expected to arrive at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at about 2000 hrs. He will be staying at Hotel Maurya Sheraton.

On the morning of March 2, Mr Bush will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. From there, he will proceed to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

Later, he will go to the Hyderabad House to have official level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Dr Singh will host a lunch for Mr Bush at the Hotel Taj Palace. In the afternoon, he will interact with some of the prominient religious leaders.

In the evening, President A P J Abdul Kalam will host a banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary.

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and leader of opposition L K Advani will call on the US President.

On the morning of March 3, he will leave for Hyderabad where he will attend a few functions and will return to the capital in the afternoon.

Mr Bush will address the intelligentia at a function at Purana Qila in the evening.

He will leave for Pakistan the next morning.
