CPI(ML-New Democracy) holds anti-Bush protests
New Delhi, Mar 1: Hours before US President George W Bush's arrival, activists of the CPI (ML-New Democracy) marched to Parliament House and burnt his effigy near the Jantar Mantar, terming him a ''criminal and leader of the aggressors of the world''.
Carrying placards and banners, the slogan-shouting activists condemned the Indian government for inviting the US President and accused it of ''acting as local subedars of America representing imperialism and military unilateralism world over''.
Addressing the protesters, Delhi unit party secretary Dr Aparna said,'' President Bush is a perpetrator of combined assult on Afghanistan and Iraq with an eye on oil reserves and to impose hegemony on the people there who were fighting out the aggression bravely.'' Extending full support to the Industrial strike called by IFTU tomorrow in Delhi, Dr Aparna said, ''Mr Bush's visit is an insult to the anti-imperialist traditions and struggles of Indian people particularly the Iraqi people's struggle against occupation''.
