Shopian, Sept 11: It has been reported that one person has been allegedly killed in fresh firing in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday, even as the curfew was lifted.

The reports of fresh firing came when the authorities lifted the three-day long curfew from Shopian township where four persons were killed in CRPF firing on weekend triggering violent protests.

The curfew was imposed in the south Kashmir town on Sunday following widespread clashes between law enforcing agencies and agitated residents after the killings.

As per report, local residents staged protests at various places demanding arrest of the CRPF personnel involved in the "cold-blooded" murder of local youth and removal of their camp from Gagran - the scene of Saturday's shooting.

Meanwhile, Police detained opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti as she was reportedly heading towards Shopian district to meet the families of the youth killed in CRPF firing on Saturday.

"Mehbooba was taken into custody by police at Pulwama town," PDP chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar told a news agency.

Police investigations revealed that three of the slain youth had no militant link but identified the fourth deceased as Pakistani militant Abdullah Haroon.
