Rahul Gandhi addresses rally in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 7: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally at Lassipora in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday where he stressed empowerment of the panchayat leaders. He said the states see too much centralisation of power and the local people should contribute in the running of the government.

He also stressed the Congress's coalition with the National Conference, reiterating his friendship with Omar Abdullah, the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Gandhi also praised cricketer Sachin Tendulkar who is currently playing in his final international series. He said Tandulkar is a good person and also a friend of him.

Gandhi was on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. On Wednesday, Gandhi was interrupted while making a speech on the empowerment of the sarpanches at a panchayat meeting in Srinagar.

The Congress leader inaugurated a controlled atmosphere fruit storage facility here on Thursday.
