Peeri (Jammu & Kashmir), Nov 21: People's Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Darhal in Rajouri district Choudhary Zulfikar Ali received a warm welcome at a public rally here on Friday. [Coalition govt looted J&K: BJP]
Ali arrived in a cavalcade of nearly 300 vehicles where people thanked him for his contribution in getting Peeri the status of a tehsil. The people present at the rally thanked Ali for his efforts for getting Peeri the status of a tehsil. [How big a role Article 370 will play in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections?]
Ali said the huge attendance revealed the popular mood, adding that the people wanted to remove the National Conference(NC)-Congress government and give the PDP a chance to return to power. He said his party will get 55 seats in the upcoming election and the NC will not even qualify to be in the opposition.
Ali, who won by 4,541 votes from Darhal in 2008, said the NC will form a coalition opposition for they won't even get two-digit number of seats. He added that the current government has pursued anti-people policies and failed to curb unemployment in the state.
"They have already accepted defeat. This is why some NC leaders are joining PDP, some have gone on leave to London while some have preferred safe seats to contest the election", he said, targeting even Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, saying he vacated the Ganderbal seat, which is a stronghold of the Abdullahs.
Religious leader Peer Muzafer Baji appealed to the people on the occasion to support PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his good work. Other PDP leaders were also present on the occasion.
In October, another car rally was held in Peeri to celebrate its tehsil status and NC leaders like Choudhary Liaqat Ali and Omar Abdullah were thanked by the local people.
