Kill list video in J&K part of Lashkar's psychological warfare
Srinagar, Sept 13: On Saturday, in a chilling video, a militant read out 25 names and said that since these were agents of the Indian army and police, they would all be killed after Eid.
There has been a great amount of panic following this video which the police now say is the handiwork of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and not the Jaish-e-Mohammad as it was reported on Saturday.
Following the video several persons whose names had figured approached the police seeking protection. Although the police personnel are taking no chances, they say that the video is part of a psychological warfare.
In the video the terrorist from Pakistan is attempting to scare the people by stating that they will meet with their end if they side with the Indian establishment, police officials also tell OneIndia.
Releasing a hit list is not new in the Valley. Around 2 years back a similar list had been released. However, it is the first time that such a message has been issued through video. It may be recalled that the ISIS too had released a similar kill list in which it had put out the names of common men.
Intelligence Bureau officials term the video as both desperate and brazen. It clearly shows that these terrorists are trying to drill fear into the minds of the common man.
They
realise
clearly
that
their
battle
is
lost
if
the
common
man
is
not
on
their
side
and
hence
such
a
desperate
and
brazen
attempt
has
been
made,
the
IB
official
also
says.
Both
the
police
and
the
IB
are
aware
that
the
video
has
been
shot
in
Kashmir
itself.
The officials say that the man in the video is a Pakistan national and his location is being zeroed down on.
Refusing to divulge any further details as it could hamper investigations, officials say that they are confident of tracking this terrorist down.
