Bengaluru, Aug 24: Paige and Alberto Del Rio both got suspended from WWE, last week after a shocking announcement came from the company.
They were not happy with their positions in the company for a long time. Since WWE has decided to suspend them within a span of just a few hours, rumours started to fly around the internet discussing their rift with WWE.
As a first-time Wellness Policy Violator, they both got suspended for 30 days starting on August 24.
No confirmation was made on behalf of WWE, for the actual reason of their suspension. But, it was speculated that they were tested positive for the same drug since they are a couple. However, veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that they were not suspended for the same drug.
Paige’s mother, Saraya Knight, was asked by a fan whether the supposed drug was cocaine or not. Though, she denied the rumor by saying that it was not a factor.
Meltzer later revealed that he never mentioned the term cocaine in his report. In fact, he did not disclose any particular drug in the case of Paige. WWE does not declare the drug for which a particular superstar gets tested positive.
Meltzer also reported that Paige is only 24 and still has a lot to offer to the company before leaving. So, once her suspension is lifted she is going to return to the WWE. But, the time of her return cannot be predicted definitely, as of now, since she is also recovering from a legitimate back injury which is said to be career-threatening.
In the case of Paige’s boyfriend, Del Rio, he has a certain clause in his contract which may allow him to leave him next month, once the suspension gets over. He may bid adieu to the company since he is underutilised for the past course of the year. Also, Del Rio’s age is 37 which is another reason that makes him outdated in the new era of WWE.
Both Paige and Del Rio was not happy with the suspension news from WWE which came on Paige’s 24th birthday. Alongside this couple, Eva Marie has also been suspended by WWE for the company’s Wellness Policy violation.
