Bengaluru, Sep 7: Once the Summerslam PPV was over we’ve got two new championships for the Smackdown division.

To match up with the flagship show i.e. Monday Night Raw, the commissioner Shane McMahon along with the General Manager of the show, Daniel Bryan unveiled the Women’s championship and the tag team championship for Smackdown with the tag team division and the Women’s division standing in the ring.

Now, Daily Wrestling News is reporting that Smackdown is due for one more championship to unveil in the future.

It is yet to be clear what title it is going to be. Also, we don’t know what is the exact reason for bringing in the additional championship?

But, it is supposed that both Raw and Smackdown should have the same number of titles and hence the planning is going on.

If we compare the two brands we got all the other championships in equal capacity except the new Cruiserweight division which was exclusively announced only for Raw. So, there’re some early planning going on to bring in Smackdown’s own cruiserweight division.

However, the Cruiserweight division is yet to arrive on Raw and hence all the planning will be on hold until then.

It will be the crowd’s reaction which will decide Smackdown’s next step to bring in the new championship.

For the past few weeks, WWE has started the promoting the Cruiserweight division which has already seen a lot of success.

But, the backstage news is that Vince McMahon himself is not much invested in the series. He was not interested in the division either back in the days from attitude era and hence the division got extinct, afterward.

Now, this division is under Triple H’s control like the NXT brand and hence this is totally going to be his initiative.

There are a number of superstars from the cruiserweight division who are yet to sign a contract for Raw. Supposedly, theses names are going to sign a contract for the Smackdown brand to build its own lightweight division.

Sean Maluta, Mustafa Ali and Lince Dorado, TJ Perkins, Gran Metalik, Cedric Alexander and the returning Brian Kendrick are some of the stars from the newly created division and some of them have already been advertised to come up on Raw.
