Bengaluru, Nov 28: During the WWE Draft, we have got the big news of Shelton Benjamin coming back to the WWE after a hiatus of seven long years.
He was advertised for a Smackdown return. We were excited to see the Golden Standard back where he belongs.
But, unfortunately, the plans were canceled after he was detected with a severe injury during a routine medical test by WWE.
The shoulder injury shelved him back for an indefinite span of time. During that diagnosis in the month of July, he was discovered with a torn rotator cuff.
Such injuries take a long span to recover and hence he declared on twitter that he is unsure of his WWE return.
For the record. I will make moves to return to @WWE when I am back to 110% physically. Anywhere from 4 to 6 months by my doc calculation.— Shelton J. Benjamin (@Sheltyb803) November 22, 2016
However, the good news is that he has successfully undergone a shoulder surgery and is supposed to be back within the biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania.
Benjamin himself posted an update regarding his current status where he said that he is positive about his return.
Quite expectedly, he hinted that he will need 5 to 6 months to get back into in-ring shape. However, it is a good thing for WWE since they can use him well for the Wrestlemania season.
As reported earlier, both the company heads i.e. Vince McMahon and Triple H were high on the former United States champion.
The veteran performer was in the blueprint of the WWE creative for quite a while now. He was basically considered for the mid-card level.
Primarily, his duty was supposed to be involved in the Intercontinental title picture to keep the standard high. He has been a great champion, here in the WWE, before.
Benjamin eventually turned out to be one of those WWE stars who remained unused during his first stint.
Hence, his arrival was highly expected to bring back some fresh storylines in the blue brand. We can expect that his last stint in the company is going to be fruitful.
