Bengaluru, Dec 18: Every year, the month of December comes around, the WWE fans wait for the much anticipated time of the year i.e. the Slammy awards night for the year.

This is a night which crowns the very best athletes and moments from the year. It also takes the opinion from the audience via the WWE app.

However, this year the scenario is suggesting something totally different. As per reports from, PWinsider.com, WWE's schedule indicates that the Slammy awards will not take place for the year 2016. It might take place in the month of January 2017 but nothing is finalized yet.

WWE has also pitched the idea of taking the awards night into the Wrestlemania weekend. But, it has remained as a rumour only since no official announcement has been received from WWE's part, as of now.

Every year, we get to know about the awards' date at least one week prior. This year, we are left with only two more Raw episodes but got no information about the same, till date.

The Slammy Awards was made more interesting with the online voting system through the WWE app. The audience makes the choice in the given categories.

However, speculations suggest that the winners of every category are fixed from the beginning and the fans have nothing to do with it.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer newsletter has also confirmed the same by saying that the recipients of the awards categories are not at all decided by the audience.

If Slammy awards do not take place this year then this will be the first time since 2004 that we will miss one of the most anticipated nights of the year. The tradition was introduced in 1986 but was not a through until 2004.

Last year, Seth Rollins won the Superstar of the year award whereas Nikki Bella was the Diva of the year. This year since the new era has started, the award show was supposed to be much interesting.
