Bengaluru, Feb 10: Kevin Owens is done with his feud against Roman Reigns as of the Royal Rumble PPV. It’s time for him to go into a newer feud with Goldberg in the Wrestlemania season.
If going by the rumour mill then the possible challenger for him in the house shows is someone whom he is very familiar with.
According to the latest reports from Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE creative has chosen Sami Zayn as the next contender for the Universal championship, momentarily. This is due to the fact that Goldberg will be unavailable for the WWE live events.
Zayn and Owens’ rivalry is quite infamous in the WWE ever since these two former best friends has signed contracts, here. This time things might go down for the title itself.
But, for now, these matches will not take place in televised editions. It was revealed by the source that these two locking horns for the title are being arranged only for the WWE house shows. Over the next couple of weeks, the match might get repeated more than once during the Raw-exclusive house shows.
WWE creative will get to know the reaction of their potential championship feud. If they find out that the crowd is engaging in it then there are chances of bringing the feud to WWE television, as well.
However, the chances of Owens going one-on-one with Sami Zayn at Wrestlemania are pretty low. Zayn is still not tested player in the main event picture and WWE would not take such a risk at the mega event.
Owens is more likely to take on his on-screen best friend Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania. Chances of him holding on to the Universal title to April 2nd are low, as well. In the near future, we might get to see the program between Jericho and Owens getting started on Raw which is on the hold for quite a long time.
In the meantime, he will be dropping the Universal title at the Fastlane PPV against Goldberg which is scheduled on March 5th. The Myth is the favorite to come out victorious on that night.
