New York, Sep 13: Randy Orton was not seen wrestling inside the squared circle since the day of Summerslam. He received ten staples on his head that night due to the legit right elbows from the beast, Brock Lesnar.
He was indulged in a feud with Bray Wyatt thereafter but the plane was to avoid body contact as much as possible to make him healthy before Backlash so that he can compete at the PPV from Smackdown.
However, we have not seen the anticipated match between him and Bray Wyatt at Backlash. As for the televised audience, it was Bray who hurt Orton to get a forfeit victory but the real reason is quite different, here.
Many believed that Orton was pulled out of the match due to concussions. Adding support to these rumors, Pro Wrestling sheet reported that Orton was barred from competing at Backlash and the reason was his concussions from Summerslam which was supposed to be cleared within Backlash. He had to go through some routine tests prior to Backlash and he failed.
WWE is much concerned with these concussion-related issues and hence they cancelled the match. However, they did not issue any statement and planned a pre-match assault from Wyatt to call off the match and replace Orton by Kane.
If you notice carefully the footage where Wyatt attacked Orton, he was already sitting on the ground when cameras started rolling which assured that he did not have to take any bump due to the collision. WWE then projected the attack to show as the cause of Orton’s injury and Wyatt won it via count-out.
The same situation happened at the recent house show from Raliegh where Kane was the substitute for Orton. This supports the fact that Orton is still not out from his concussions.
Though, Orton later somehow walked into the arena to deliver Wyatt with an RKO helping Kane to win the match. By his looks, it is expected that he will be fit to compete in the rematch against Brock Lesnar on September 24th from Chicago. Also, this rivalry between Wyatt and Orton is far from over and will continue without physicality, as of now.
