WWE: Kevin Owens wants Sami Zayn as his Wrestlemania opponent

Bengaluru, Feb 2: It’s no secret that how much bitter rival Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in the WWE. They had beaten up each other for the better part of the year 2016 before calling it a quit.

But, it might not finish the story between the two best friends as KO still wills to get Zayn on the grandest stage of them all.

The Universal Champion recently appeared in an interview with USA Today’s 'For the Win’ where he discussed his rivalry with Zayn.

He pointed out that it’s just a matter of time that this rivalry should headline Wrestlemania. It might happen if Zayn is given a major push for the Wrestlemania season.

These two has been the best of friends while growing up together in Canada. They traveled the world together while performing on the independent wrestling circuit.

Zayn used to perform as El Generico while Owens was known as Kevin Steen. Under these names, they earned quite a fame in the Ring of Honor wrestling promotion prior to signing contracts with WWE.

KO also talked about another indie darling whose name is AJ Styles. According to him, they are very similar while choosing career paths.

They both decided to sign with the WWE after performing in the indie scenes for the better part of the career and became champions on their respective brands. This is what he said:

"I think for A.J. and I both if we had taken another route, I don’t know that we would have been as successful as we’ve been in WWE.

"I think the career path we took was instrumental in getting us to be who we are now as performers, as wrestlers, and getting to be so successful so quickly once we got here."

Jericho has always been KO’s mentor during his championship reign and he also spoke about the bond he shares with Y2J with these following comments:

“We always got along, but I don’t know that we were that close. The more we appeared together on RAW, the closer we grew, and we’re really good friends now.

"I always had a lot of respect for him, not only because he’s one of the biggest WWE superstars of the last decade, but also because he’s Canadian and I’m Canadian.

"There’s an almost like an unspoken bond that just kind of happened naturally when you’re from the same place.”
