Bengaluru, Sep 22: John Cena had a “match of the year” candidate in the dream match against AJ Styles at Summerslam.
After a trrific encounter, Styles beat Cena in a clean one-on-one bout. After the match, John Cena left his armband in the middle of the ring. This kept his millions of fans on their toes thinking about his career end.
However, Cena came back stronger last week, on Smackdown Live to claim a championship match at No Mercy PPV.
So, as announced by the Smackdown commissioner, Shane McMahon we will receive a huge triple threat match for the WWE World Championship featuring Cena, Styles and Ambrose.
This will be the first time in the last 23 months that the franchise will be back to feature in the main event of a PPV.
John Cena had willingly stepped aside from the main event scene since 2014’s end to give the young lads an opportunity. But, while he is returning on the main event scene, he is returning big time creating a record.
He will be the one to main event in a PPV for the 68th time. Earlier he was in a tie with the Undertaker and Triple H.
Once he appears at No Mercy he will be officially the one to the most number of main events in his pocket. He is not expected to win the championship though as he has to go on a hiatus, once again to film the second season of American Grit.
