WWE: Goldberg to have another squash match against Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens will defend his Universal Championship at the upcoming Fastlane PPV against Goldberg.

Bengaluru, Mar 4: As announced by WWE, Kevin Owens will defend his Universal Championship at the upcoming Fastlane PPV against Goldberg.

This will be after 13 long years that the Myth will compete in a WWE title match.

Dave Meltzer has discussed the possible outcomes of the championship match with his fellow Bryan Alvarez in a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

He said that Goldberg is scheduled to get yet another quick victory over the reigning champion to finally dethrone him.

The match will be similar one just like Survivor Series. In the main event of the last dual-brand PPV of 2016, Goldberg squashed Brock Lesnar in a match that lasted for only 1 minute and 26 seconds.

This time too, the creative might be planning something similar. The match should not last more than ten minutes according to the veteran journalist.

This win will further solidify Goldberg's unstoppable force to reckon with before he heads towards Wrestlemania as the Universal Champion.

He will be locking horns with Lesnar while defending his title at the grandest stage of them all.

The title run is expected to be a short one since Lesnar will emerge victorious in the last bout between the two of them.

There would be many fans who might disagree with such a finish of the Fastlane main event. This can severely damage Kevin Owens' character of a bonafide heel.

There are already complaints with the champions' booking who is being portrayed as a cowardly heel on Raw. Aligning himself with Chris Jericho has made him even weaker.

Previously, cagesideseats.com reported that Vince McMahon did not want either AJ Styles or Kevin Owens to enter Wrestlemania as the champion from their respective brands. Styles lost his title at the Royal Rumble PPV and Owens would follow it up, soon.

Taking the title from Owens to give it to Goldberg just to drop it to Lesnar again, seems pointless, anyway.

We have to wait until tomorrow night to see what WWE has in store for the Universal championship.
