Arizona, Feb 13: The PPV based on the Elimination Chamber gimmick was back for one night only, last night. The ominous structure saw an out-and-out classic match contested for the WWE championship.
Plus, for the first-time ever, there were three women's matches on a PPV match card. Here's how the Smackdown-exclusive PPV went down last night at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
Becky Lynch Vs Mickie James
Mickie James returned to singles competition against Lynch after nearly 8 years. It was a great competition to start off the show between these two agile athletes. Becky went on to lock the dis-arm-bar but Mickie reversed it. Becky further rolled her up with jack knife cover to pick up the win.
Nikki Bella Vs Natalya
The brawl between these two was on throughout the match up as they both got counted out. Nikki locked in the STF but Natalya managed to escape the hold and continued fighting at the ringside. Nikki finished it with a spear to Natalya on the ramp.
Tag team turmoil (Smackdown tag team championship)
It came down to the champs and the Ascension at the very last moment. Jordan connected with a belly-to-belly suplex following with the grand amplitude to pick up the win.
Apollo Crews and Kalisto Vs Dolph Ziggler
Prior to the match, Ziggler came in running to attack Kalisto at ringside. So, Crews went one-on-one in the match.
As Ziggler was trying to capitalize Kalisto ran in and hit him with a head kick. Crews connected with the spinning powerbomb to pick up the win.
Randy Orton Vs Luke Harper
It was evident that Randy would pick up the win against Harper. He eventually did it with great effort even after eating two giant super kick from the big man. He escaped a Lariat and countered it with an RKO for the win.
Alexa Bliss Vs Naomi (SmackDown Women's Championship)
Unfortunately for Alexa Bliss, there was no Mickie James to save her from Naomi who's on a roll, lately. She countered a top rope splash from Bliss and connected with the top rope moon assault to pick up the win and becoming the new Smackdown women's champion.
Elimination Chamber match (WWE championship match)
Cena and Styles started off the match as Dean Ambrose joined them after the countdown. Bray Wyatt followed them when everybody was down.
Corbin was the third one to come to the match to create a ruckus. The Miz was the last one who was hesitating to enter into the match.
This distraction caused Corbin to get eliminated by Ambrose. Miz came in and eliminated Ambrose by pinfall. Cena connected with an AA to eliminate the Miz.
Styles went for the 450 splash but Wyatt again countered it with the same maneuver to eliminate Styles and win his first WWE championship to close the show.
