Bengaluru, Nov 18: WWE always maintain a strict policy for all of its employees. When it comes to its rival promotions, it never allows superstars to mention it on a live television. But, recently, Daniel Bryan broke that rule and mentioned TNA’s name on the live television.
The incident occurred during the brand new show on the WWE Network named “State of the WWE Universe” which aired after Monday Night Raw went off the air, this week. The show was hosted to hype up the intense rivalry between the two brands, Raw and Smackdown for the upcoming Survivor Series PPV.
Smackdown and Raw show-runners were targeting each other whenever they got an issue. In such a point Raw General Manager, Mick Foley accused Bryan that he did not want to be the Smackdown General Manager. It was WWE’s decision and he got no choice but to accept it.
Bryan hit back by saying that even though he prefers competing inside the ring, he does his job with dignity. He also added that the same thing happened with Foley during 2001. He decided to quit his job and went to TNA just for wrestling. At that point, Foley was acting as the General Manager of Raw.
As per WWE’s rulebook, one cannot mention his rival companies especially TNA or Ring of Honor. Stephanie McMahon went quickly to change the topic saying that at Survivor Series she and her performers are going to defeat the Smackdown brigade. Foley and Bryan clearly went off the script and the boss went right into for damage controlling.
In the recent past, AJ Styles has only mentioned TNA’s name and his role in the company in the Stone Cold podcast.
Further on the show, Bryan said that there are two superstars from Raw who desperately wants to join Smackdown Live in near future. They are Sami Zayn and Cesaro. Bryan said that he talked to them in backstage and they wished to be in the “land of opportunity.” Since both Zayn & Cesaro has not been utilized properly, we can expect switches at Survivor Series.
