'Well played', PM Modi tweets his congrats to victorious Indian team

By Ians English

New Delhi, Feb 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his congratulations to the Indian cricket team for its victory over Pakistan in a World Cup pool match in Adelaide.

"Congrats Team India. Well played. We are all very proud of you," the prime minister wrote on his Twitter handle @narendramodi.

India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs in their first Pool B match of the World Cup at the Adelaide Oval Sunday. Chasing India's 300/7, Pakistan were bowled out for 224.

The Prime Minister had earlier wished all the Indian cricketers individually just before the start of the quadrennial extravaganza.

In the high-voltage match between the bitter rivals, India again emerged victorious in a rather one-sided affair, thus maintaining their magnificent record against Pakistan by winning the sixth consecutive World Cup game since the rivalry started way back in 1992.
