Rio Olympics: Twitterati hail Neymar Jr. as he guides Brazil to maiden football gold

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 21: Neymar Jr. guided Brazil to their maiden Olympic football gold medal on Saturday (August 20). Brazil defeated Germany 5-4 in the penalty shootout to bag the gold medal.

The FC Barcelona star scored the opening goal of the match in the 28th minute of the game from a world class free-kick. Germany equalised when attacking midfielder and captain Max Meyer scored in the 58th minute.

The match went on to penalty shooutout. Germany failed to convert their fifth penalty which gave Brazil a chance to seal the match. Neymar took the fifth penalty and comfortably netted the winning goal.

As Neymar's brilliance earns Brazil their maiden football gold medal, fans around the world rejoiced.
