Bengaluru, June 28: England crash out of the Euro 2016 as they went down 2-1 against minnows Iceland last night (June 27) in a round of 16 clash. Wayne Rooney netted the opening goal from the penalty spot to give England the lead but Iceland came back strongly to pump in 2 goals to seal a historic win over the mighty English side.
Iceland have so far played inspirational football in the tournament. With an unknown but spirited bunch of players, Iceland have been the team to look out for in this tournament.
On the other hand, Roy Hodgson's England played terrible football and they very rightly they went out of the tournament. Roy Hodgson resigned from his post immediately after the match got over.
As England go down yet again in an international tournament, here is how fans around the world reacted on Twitter:
The worst defeat in our history. England beaten by a country with more volcanoes than professional footballers. Well played Iceland.
