Kolkata, Nov 15: After a dominating show in the Spirit of Kalinga III in Bhubaneswar last weekend, Team Tata Motors is looking to extend their advantage over the rest of the field in the Monsoon Drive 3, the seventh round of the 2014 Indian National TSD Rally Championship, here on Sunday.
The team's lead pair of Chidananda Murthy and co-driver BS Sujith Kumar, both from Bangalore, are leading the Pro Stock category with 124 points, while Team Tata Motors' Saurav Chatterjee-Ashoke Kumar Basu are second in the championship points table with 107 points.
Two-time and defending National champions Murthy-Kumar had won four founds on the trot and finished third in Bhubaneswar and are hoping to get back to winning ways here. Chatterjee-Basu won last weekend and are also aiming for a good performance.
"After four continuous wins, it was a bit disappointing to finish third in Bhubaneswar. But, we cannot afford to get bogged down by that and are going for a win in Kolkata," said Murthy.
Sujith Kumar added: "It is like a challenge for us to get back to winning. Moreover, it is crucial that we win in Kolkata to keep our championship hopes alive. So, we have to be on the top step of the podium."
Team Tata Motors' Ajgar Ali-Mohammad Musthafa (who finished third in Bhubaneswar) lead the Pro Expert category championship table with 111 points and are keen on winning on home turf. The Ganesh Moorthy-T Nagarajan (77 points) pair finished second in Bhubaneswar and is third in the championship, while Srikanth Gowda-M Chandrashekar (62) are fourth in the points table.
