Theme song of National Games to be launched tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 23: The theme song of the 35th National Games, composed by famous singer and composer Hariharan, will be launched formally by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, at the Olympia Chamber, Chandrashekharan Nair stadium, here tomorrow.

The song has been composed embodying the larger theme of national integration, sportsman spirit and the country's youthful exuberance.

The three-minute song which has a mix of languages -- Hindi, Malayalam and English -- has been penned by the famous Urdu poet and Bollywood lyricist Javed Akthar. The song reasserts the nation's expectation on its youth and glorifies and the potential of sports and games in making lives brighter.

Renowned personalities such as K J Yesudas, Salim Merchant, Shreya Ghoshal, Benny Dayal, Shwetha Mohan, Akshay Hariharan along with Hariharan will give their voice to the song, which is expected to create a splash across the world.

The song has also been tailor-made to 180 seconds', 45 seconds' and 15 seconds' variants to suit the timeslots of various channels and media. The copyrights of the song shall be vested with the National Games Secretariat.

The function will also feature the formal release of the promotional video of the 35th National Games starring the Games' Goodwill Ambassador and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. The function to be presided over by the Kerala Sports Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will also be attended by senior functionaries of the Kerala Olympic Association and the National Games Organising Committee.
