Bengaluru, Feb 4: The Elimination Chamber PPV was excluded from WWE’s card in the year 2016. The exciting match is back this year with a brand exclusive tag onto it.
As reported earlier, it will take place on February 12th at the talking Stick resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona.
This would be the last step for the blue brand before Wrestlemania and supposedly change a lot of equations.
Six-men competing inside the chamber were finalized on Smackdown. John Cena will defend the title whereas AJ Styles will automatically get his rematch.
Apart from these two, Dean Ambrose, the Miz, Baron Corbin and bray Wyatt will be a part of the match.
As per recent reports from cagesideseats.com, we are almost guaranteed to get a new champion on that night.
John Cena has the least chance to grab his hold on the 16th title reign and will leave it to someone who would go on to main event Wrestlemania, this year.
The reason behind Cena dropping the title is due the downplaying of the fact that he tied the record of the legend, Ric Flair’s 16th world title reign.
Originally, Ric Flair was supposed to make his way out to the ring to congratulate Cena after his Rumble win. But, WWE did not want to portray the moment bigger since they knew it would not last longer.
This was the reason that Flair met the Cenation leader backstage and shared the picture on social media, as per PWInsider.com.
Apart from tying Flair’s record, Cena now holds the record of holding the WWE championship for 13 times which is more than anybody.
However, it’s still not clear why WWE has planned to crown Cena with the championship for such a shorter span.
If Randy Orton was already scheduled to win the Rumble match then it was likely that WWE would not go for a Cena-Orton match which has happened umpteenth times, previously.
This certainly leaves the creative’s planning pointless to take the title away from Cena at the earliest. He should have a memorable title run, this time.
This planning can certainly cause a fan backlash if the title changes hand at Elimination Chamber. We have to wait a little bit to see what move WWE intends to take regarding this.
