Rio 2016: Mexican president sends off largest Olympic contingent

Mexico, July 22: Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto met with the country's athletes competing at the 2016 Olympic Games as part of the delegation's official send-off.

Pena Nieto on Thursday thanked the 126 Olympic and 66 Paralympic athletes for their dedication and hard work, reports Xinhua

At the event, which was preponed due to Pena Nieto's trip to the United States, the president handed the national flag to the selected flag bearer, and called on the athletes to do their best.

"You will be going to compete, to make Mexico proud, to show capability and send a message of peace, harmony and solidarity with all of the countries that will be represented at Rio," Pena Nieto said.
