Rio 2016: Freak injury costs wrestler Vinesh Phogat in Quarter Final bout

Rio de Janeiro, Aug 17: In a massive setback to India, wrestler Vinesh Phogat lost to China's Yanan Sun 1-2 after a freak injury cost her the women's Freestyle 48kg 1/4 final bout of the Rio Olympics here on Wednesday (Aug 17).

Vinesh was leading 1-0 when she hurt her knee before the Chinese gained two points to be declared victorious by injury at the Carioca Arena.

The 21-year-old Indian was taken off on a stretcher as the injury seemed to be a very serious one.

Earlier in the day, Vinesh defeated Romania's Emilia Alina Vuc by 11-0 to enter into the quarterfinals where she will now face China's Yahan Sun for a semi-final berth.
