Bengaluru, Aug 1: The summer Olympics 2016 is set to kick-start its campaign from August 5 at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

207 nations are participating this time at the Rio Olympics 2017. A total of 119 athletes are representing India in 15 sports.

As India gear up for this grand sporting extravaganza, we have decided to make a list of top 10 Indian athletes to watch out for at the Rio Olympics 2016.

Here are the top 10 Indian athletes:

Abhinav Bindra

Abhinav Bindra is the only Indian athlete to win an Olympics gold medal in an individual event. The 33-year-old shooter will be participating in the Olympics for the third time and will be looking forward to win a medal for the nation.

Deepika Kumari

Deepika Kumari is an inspiration to a billion Indians. Daughter to an auto driver, the 22-year-old girl from Jharkhand will be competing at the Olympics for the second time in her career. In London 2012 she came 8th. Indians will genuinely hope she gives her best shot and bag a medal.

Dipa Karmakar

Dipa Karmakar became the first ever female gymnast from India to qualify for the Olympics as she has qualified for the women's artistic gymnastics event of 2016 Summer Olympics. She will be the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the Olympics after 52 years.

Sain Nehwal

Saina was one of the four Indians who had bagged bronze medal at the London Olympics 2012. One of India's greatest sportsperson ever, Saina was ranked number 1 in the world in 2015. Currently ranked fifth, Indians have a lot of hope of the girl from Hyderabad.

Sania Mirza

Sania Mirza is currently ranked 1 in the WTA women's doubles ranking. Sania will be participating for the third time in the Olympics in the mixed doubles category pairing up with Rohan Bopanna. We hope the duo bring a medal for India this time.

Rohan Bopanna

Rohan Bopanna is in a fine form at present and will be participating in his second Olympics this time pairing up with Leander Paes in the doubles category and Sania Mirza in the mixed doubles. 

Leander Paes

The legendary Indian Tennis player and arguably the greatest Tennis player ever in India is the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic medal in 1996 Men's singles category at the Atlanta Olympics 1996. Leander Paes since then has come a long way. We hope the legend bags yet another medal from his last games.

Jitu Rai

Jitu Rai is participating in the 10m air pistol and 50m pistol category in this Olympics. Indian will hope that Rai will be at his best of Performances and win India a medal.

Gagan Narang

Gagan Narang had won a bronze medal at the London Olympics 2012. The 33-year-old shooter is participating in 10m air rifle, 50m rifle prone, 50m rifle categories,

Yogeshwar Dutt

Yogeshwar Dutt, participating in the 65 kg FR category, had won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and bagged an Asian Games Gold medal in 2014.
