The tweet read:

Few months back a rumour was circulating in the Indian media that Diego Forlan was strongly linked with a move to Atletico de Kolkata but unfortunately it did not materialise for the Kolkata side.

Diego Forlan, 37, had last played for Montevideo based club Penarol in the previous season. He had won the FIFA Golden Ball Award in 2010 South Africa World Cup where Uruguay finished fourth.

The Mumbai based franchise is yet to make a mark in the Indian Super League as they have failed to qualify to the semi-finals in both the occassion.

They have some of the best players in their squad, like Indian superstar Sunil Chhetri, Haitian international Sony Norde, etc.

With Forlan's addition in the squad, the club will hope that their fortune will change this time.
