Injured Novak Djokovic will require nearly three months to recuperate

Bengaluru, July 25: Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic might withdraw from US Open after suffering a 'bone bruise' due to 'excessive play'.

Zdeslav Milinkovic, a doctor with the Tennis Federation of Serbia, said the former world number one will require nearly three-month rest to recuperate from the injury.

According to the doctor, the "symptoms are declining," but Djokovic will need rehab on his elbow and still wants to avoid surgery that may take longer time to recover.

Djokovic had retired with an elbow injury in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, saying it had been affecting him for more than a year-and-a-half. The Serb has since seen specialists in Toronto, and will now decide on his schedule.

Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, are expecting their second child in the next few weeks.
