Bengaluru, Sep 3: Backlash PPV will mark the first-ever brand specific PPV in the history of the company.
From this year onwards, We will see Raw and Smackdown hosting separate PPVs during the entire year apart from the big four PPVs i.e. Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series.
On September 11, we will see the beginning of the string of separate PPVs starting with Backlash.
With that being said, Smackdown Live has already done sketching the preparation for the PPV which is going to return after a hiatus of 8 years. The show-runners have already announced a new Smackdown Women’s championship and there will be a six-pack challenge to determine the new champion.
Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Naomi will feature in the six-pack challenge since no more options are available in the locker room. With Nikki Bella returning to Smackdown, the division looks stronger than ever.
Now, according to the reports from cagesideseats.com, Nikki Bella is the first choice for the championship victory at Backlash.
Since Eva Marie was throwing a lot of tantrums during her matches and was the center of attraction at the beginning of Smackdown Live, WWE was supposed to crown her with the championship.
However, since she is now sidelined after a 30-days-suspension from the company after violating the Wellness Policy, that plan is wiped out.
Nikki Bella is the most accomplished athlete in the Women’s division right now considering both Raw and Smackdown.
So the planning is to make her the Smackdown Women’s championship more prestigious by giving it to the longest reigning Divas champion in the history of the WWE.
However, she is not going to keep her hold on the title for much longer. The initial plans suggest that she is going to drop it to someone else before 2016 comes to an end.
It was thought that Nikki Bella is joining the Women’s division as a heel since she teamed up with the heel team of Natalya and Alexa Bliss at Summerslam. But, WWE has turned her babyface by letting the sneak attack from Carmella for two consecutive weeks.
