The wrestler, while speaking from Mumbai on Wednesday (March 8), said, “I had gone into a huge depression at one point of time. Shilpi has helped me come back to normal life with her untiring inspiration and encouragement for the last few months. I would not have been able to resume training if Shilpi had not stood beside me all along my crisis.”
The marriage between the wrestler and his would be wife is going to take place on Friday (March 10).
On the eve of his marriage, Narsigh clearly gave hints that he has been a victim of conspiracy. When asked about the reasons behind his failure in the dope test repeatedly for Rio, a few days before the wrestling competition began in the Olympics, Narsingh stressed on the point saying, “If I wished to dope to get medal in the Olympics, then why I would do that just before the start of Olympics? I would have doped much earlier."
While clarifying on using the banned drug, the wrestler explained, “I had qualified in the 74 kg category. So why should I take that drug to increase my weight? If you remember that my room partner at the Sonipat SAI centre, Sandp Yadav also failed in the dope test. He was also alleged of taking the same drug which we were given as food supplement. He did not qualify for Olympics. Still we were having that food supplement, staying together in the same room. Now you should understand why I want to say the whole thing a conspiracy.”
Narsingh stressed on the point that after marriage he and his athlete wife will resume full-fledged training with an aim to get medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
He said, “I must have to show the world that I am not finished and I never used banned drugs by winning the medal in the Tokyo Olympics. I believe I will be able to do so only because my wife is there.”
