"I am very happy with my decision to stay at Borussia Dortmund," said Reus to a German newspaper Kicker.

"Dortmund is my home town and Borussia my club. I am looking forward to a successful future with our team and our fantastic fans supporting us. There is a lot to do and I want to be part of that," he added.

Dortmund's Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke said that Reus is a very important player for the club's future and with the decision of signing a new deal for Dortmund shows that he is completely dedicated to his hometown club.

The German international had turned down an offer at Real Madrid in order to sign the deal at his hometown club, while he has been regularly linked with moves to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City all mentioned as possible destinations previously this season.

With Dortmund, Reus won the 2013 DFL-Supercup against Bayern Munich. The German international was named the Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2012 and was on the UEFA Team of the Year in 2013.
