On Friday, Barcelona confirmed that they will sign the forward for five years. Suarez will wear number 9 at the club and will team up with number 10 Lionel Messi and Neymar, the number 11.
According to "BBC", the transfer deal is "understood to be around 75 million pounds". Suarez was signed by Liverpool from Ajax in 2011 for 22.7 million pounds.
"I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision. This club did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife's family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right," Suarez said.
The 27-year-old Suarez was recently handed a 9-match international ban and suspended from all football-related activity for 4 months for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during their FIFA World Cup 2014 game in Brazil last month.
"The Uruguayan will be travelling to Barcelona next week for a medical, to sign his five-year contract and to be officially presented to the media and fans as an FC Barcelona player," Barcelona said on its website today.
The club said they had reached an agreement with English club Liverpool for the transer of the star.
"FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan will be travelling to Barcelona next week for a medical, to sign his five-year contract and to be officially presented to the media and fans as an FC Barcelona player," it added.
"Luis Suarez is one of the most productive strikers in European football. Since turning professional (2005/06) he has always scored at least ten league goals a season, whether at Groningen, Ajax or Liverpool. The 27 year old is heading for the Camp Nou as holder of the Golden Boot after hitting 31 goals for Liverpool last term, which means he has topped the scoring charts in both Holland and England.
"The fifteenth Uruguayan to play for FC Barcelona is not just a prolific scorer, he also has a strong competitive spirit and a powerful figure, and he's coming to Barça in search of even more. Luis Suárez thus adds his name to the impressive list of world class strikers that have played for the club in recent years, and is the fifth to have arrived with a Golden Boot among his honours," Barcelona wrote on its website about the player.
