Lionel Messi 'exhausted' ahead of World Cup final, feels 'his legs weigh 100kgs each'

Rio de Janeiro, July 11: Argentine captain Lionel Messi was not at his best in the last two games and he might disappoint again in the final against Germany at the FIFA World Cup 2014. The reason - he is "exhausted".

World Cup Special

Messi, in the first four matches at the World Cup in Brazil, was superb. He scored four goals (in group stage) and won four successive Man-of-the-match awards. But in the quarter-finals and semi-finals he did not look at his best.

Argentina won the last-eight clash against Belgium 1-0 while they edged the Dutch 4-2 on penalties to qualify for the final on July 13.

Now, Messi's father has revealed the reason for him being off-colour against Belgium and Netherlands.

"He is exhausted and feels as if his legs weigh 100 kilos each," his father Jorge was quoted as saying in the media yesterday (July 10).

Despite this, millions of fans across the globe will be rooting for Messi to come good and take the team to the title on Sunday.
