Kabaddi World Cup 2016: India crush Thailand 73-20 in semi-final, set up summit clash with Iran

The seven time world champions India are eyeing another title while Iran, the runners up of previous World Cup, would be hoping to end India's dominance in Kabaddi.

Ahmedabad, Oct 21: Title favourites India thrashed table toppers from Group B, Thailand, 73-20 in the semi-finals here on Friday (Oct 21) and stormed into the finals of Kabaddi World Cup 2016.

Team India under the leadership of Anup Kumar will now face Iran, who defeated 'dark horses' Republic of Korea in a thrilling encounter by 28-24, on Saturday (Oct 22).

Defending champions India outclassed their Thai opponents from the very start and never gave them any chance of a comeback. Thailand failed to offer any resistance to the Indians, who dominated them in every department of the game.

Ajay Thakur and Pardeep Narwal, who completed their perfect 10s, were the top raiders for India.

The tournament which began on October 7, saw 12 teams participating in the league games. Now we have top two teams left who will now clash in the grand finale to lift the trophy.

Hosts and defending champions India, who won their last five games - including the semi-final - with a big margin, after shock defeat against Korea are one step away from becoming world champions again.
