Hong Kong Open Badminton: India's Srikanth storms into semi-finals

Hong Kong, Nov 21: India's Kidambi Srikanth continued his impressive run in the Hong Kong Open badminton tournament as he reached the semi-finals today at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon.

Srikanth, who won the China Open men's singles title on Sunday (November 16), on Friday defeated Wei Nan of Hong Kong in straight games 21-14, 21-15 to storm into the last-four stage. Srikanth won the match in 36 minutes.

The Hyderabadi youngster, who is coached by Pullela Gopichand, will have a tough match next when faces world number 2 and the top seed Chen Long of China. The duo has met only once previously, in August this year at the World Championships where Long won 21-12, 21-10.

The 21-year-old Srikanth, who is world number 10, easily dispatched Nan, the world number 21. Srikanth is the only Indian left in the tournament after Saina Nehwal crashed out earlier today, in the quarter-finals.
