Bengaluru, Oct 10: Dipa Karmakar, the first ever female gymnast from India to have participated in an Olympics and earned 4th place, has decided to give her latest gift back to the owner.
That is nothing but an expensive BMW car which she received from Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar in Hyderabad in the month of September. Along with Dipa, PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik were also presented BMW cars by Sachin. The cars, however, were given by Hyderabad Badminton Association (HBA) president V Chamundeswaranath.
But Dipa herself seemed to have been more worried about the uncertainty of her exposure tour to Germany for training and participating in Challengers Cup, scheduled to be held in November.
The key factor behind uncertainty over Dipa's participation is that the country's Gymnastics Federation has informed Dipa's coach Bisweswar Nandy that Dipa will only be able to take in the Challengers' Cup if six-member Indian team can participate in the championship.
Nandy while speaking on the issue, said over phone from Agartala, "According to the Federation, we must have to field at least three-member team. Otherwise it will not be possible for us to participate in the championship. And the Federation also has asked me to start preparatory camp as soon as possible."
Interestingly, Nandy revealed that his another student Asmita Paul who is also from Tripura
And being hailed extremely promising is likely to be called up in the national preparatory camp for the Challengers' Cup. It has also been learnt that Nandy does not want to include Dipa in the preparatory camp and the reason behind his reluctance is Dipa has not yet resumed training fully.
