Formula 1: McLaren's Fernando Alonso released from hospital

Barcelona, Feb 26: Two times world champions Fernando Alonso got discharged from hospital on the afternoon of Feb 25. Alonso had crashed into a wall during Feb. 22's test run at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona and was airlifted to the hospital. The McLaren driver has returned to his home in Spain for further rest and recuperation, according to the McLaren team.(Alonso involved in serious crash during testing)

Alonso suffered concussion when he crashed into a wall 20 laps into testing on Sunday and was airlifted to hospital under sedation.

As a result, he will miss the third and final testing session, which will start on Thursday in Barcelona. Reserve driver Kevin Magnussen is set to fill in for the two-time world champion during the practice sessions in Barcelona, alongside Jenson Button.

The 33-year-old Spaniard suffered concussion but McLaren team said scans on the two times world champion were "completely normal." The team blamed strong gutsy winds for the crash and denied there had been any mechanical failure with the car during the test.

The Formula 1 season gets underway in Australia on March 15, 2015 and will conclude at Abu Dhabi on November 29, 2015
