"I am very happy, very pleased. It's important, a massive three points for us to still believe we can fight for the title," ESPNFC quoted Pochettino as saying.

Spurs beat Burnley by a 2-0 margin to go upto 62 points from 29 games. Chelsea, who lost 1-2 on Saturday to Crystal Palace, are top of the tree with 69 points from 29 outings.

"We showed great belief, character and faith. It is always difficult in the first game after international duty, all the players arrive at different dates, but we were very professional. That makes us proud."

Spurs travel to struggling Swansea on Wednesday, while Chelsea host fourth-placed Manchester City.

Talking about Saturday's game, he said: "It's true, in the first half it was difficult to play in the way we normally play but throughout the second half we dominated the game and created chances."

"We fully deserved the three points. Maybe it was not brilliant, but it was very professional.

"It's always a difficult place to play, Burnley. Many teams struggle to get a good result. But for to analyse the game after 90 minutes, we fully deserved this result."

Harry Winks was taken to hospital with suspected ankle ligament damage after a collision at the end of the first half.

He had to travel back to London with his teammates as he was unable to return to the Stadium.

"Now we need to wait for the scan," Pochettino said. "We hope it is not a big issue. It's his ankle, he twisted his ankle."
