Kolkata, Oct 25: Legendary footballer Thierry Henry lit a lamp 15 minutes before Atletico de Kolkata's Indian Super League (ISL) home football match against Mumbai City FC at the Rabindra Sarovar Stadium here on Tuesday.

Along with chairperson and founder of Reliance Foundation Nita Ambani and ATK co-owner Sanjeev Goenka, the prolific goalscorer who is now Belgium's second assistant manager, was the special guest for the match.

Henry, English club Arsenal's all-time top scorer, will head to Mumbai next.

Wearing a black t-shirt and grey jeans, the 39-year old 1998 World Cup winner was all smiles as he walked around the centre of the pitch with a posse of bodyguards and organisers of the ISL.

The full house at the stadium roared in unison when the announcer spelled out his name for the first time as the Frenchman walked into the ground waving to his fans.

At halftime, Henry was seen with ATK co-owner and former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on the pitch. Goenka felicitated Ambani and Henry with a tricolour scarf. Henry, Ambani and Ganguly posed for a selfie moments later.

Henry is in India as the brand ambassador of sports kit manufacturer Puma.
