Sunil Chhetri started his professional career with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan in the then National Football League (BFL) 2002-03 season.

The talismanic striker has played for several top clubs in the country namely, Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, JCT FC, Dempo SC, Churchill Brothers and now Bengaluru FC.

In between, he had also experienced brief stints with MLS side Kansas City Wizards in USA and Primeira Division side Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

It took Chhetri 14 seasons to beat Bhaichung Bhutia's record of scoring 89 goals in the league. Bhutia who had also played for the Kolkata giants as well as for JCT scored in 17 seasons in the Indian top tier.

Other than achieving this milestone, Chhetri has also the most number of international goals, 51 in 91 matches.

Sunil Chhetri-led Bengaluru FC are currently struggling in the I-League as they have failed to win in their last 5 matches. They are at the fifth position in the league and are 8 points behind league leaders East Bengal.
