Kolkata, Feb 7: Salt Lake stadium, the biggest stadium in India, is undergoing renovation at the moment. The stadium has been selected as one of the venues for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup which is scheduled to kick off from October 7, 2017.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the U-17 World Cup and AIFF have plans of allocating the World Cup final match to Salt Lake Stadium which was deemed as the best ground in the country by FIFA.

Inside the ground, Bermuda grass, imported from the USA, has been laid. The old athletics track has already been uprooted and the modern red tartan track has been laid.

The galleries, which have a capacity of 68 thousand spectators will see the SK blue bucket chairs. There will be three specially made huge glass boxes.

One will be the presidential box where the country's president and other guests of his stature. That box is going to have a five-star facility and the highest level of security arrangement will also be made in that presidential box.

Along with the presidential box, the Stadium is going to present two more glass boxes. One is a media box with international standard including all modern facilities.

Another glass box which is also under construction will be the hospitality box for the VIPs and the VVIPs.

It has been learned that representatives of FIFA's top sponsors, as well as leading businessmen of this contingent, will be invited to watch the matches in Kolkata.

So, in a bid to provide utmost facility and comfort for them, the hospitality box for the corporate people will be built. The number of gates will also increase at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium from seven to nine.

But the major question which arises is that can the authorities hand over a refurbished stadium to FIFA within the deadline day which is February 28?

None of the renovation works has been completed with only 3 weeks left in hand. The organisers, however, seem to be sure that the stadium will be complete before the deadline day.
