Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled one back in the 21st minute by heading in a cross from Paul Pogba. The Red Devils got several opportunities to score a winner but Darren Randolph pulled off some quality saves to deny the Red Devils.
Before Manchester United's clash, Arsenal took on AFC Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium. A fantastic brace from Alexis Sanchez and a goal from Theo Walcott guaranteed full three points for the Gunners.
Sanchez scored early after capitalising on a schoolboyish error from opponent defender Steve Cook. Callum Wilson equalised on the stroke of half-time from the penalty spot.
Theo Walcott scored the second goal for Arsenal in the beginning of second half, and Sanchez hammered the last nail in Bournemouth's coffin in the 90th minute from Olivier Giroud's path.
On Saturday, November 27, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea were in action. The game week kicked-off with Manchester beating Burnley thanks to a brace from Sergio Aguero.
Liverpool faced Sunderland and emerged victorious 2-0 after a grueling 90 minutes of football. Jurgen Klopp's side were jolted by Philippe Coutinho's ankle injury. Coutinho may miss out on playing for the side in the next couple of months.
Chelsea locked horns with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final match of Day 1. Christian Eriksen scored the opening goal for Spurs but Pedro cancelled out the lead in the 45th minute.
Victor Moses scored the winning goal for the Blues which helped them to retain their top position in the league table.
